I was down with my son from September 2nd to the 5th. He worked at Mariner's during the day, but we got around in the evening. The weather was nice, except for the light rain Sunday evening. Here are some pictures and observations.
Had a slice of Mack's on my birthday and it was great...like always. Happy birthday to me! I was going to try a slice of Joe's Pizza on Sunday...but it was closed during the day so I had another slice of Mack's. That slice was great too!
The new Pompeo's sign. We didn't eat there...but maybe next summer.
We did eat at Schellenger's Restaurant for dinner and we had a very good meal. This was our first time eating here and I was pleasantly surprised. I always thought the restaurant wouldn't be good because the outside looks like a tourist trap...but I was wrong. The inside was nice and the food and service was great. I would return.
This was the last weekend for Morey's Surfside Pier and Adventure Pier. Most of the rides were open, except CygnusX-1, Pirates of Wildwood and Ghost Ship. Even the Kang a Bounce was open...which it wasn't most of the season.
We got a crab-dip covered Bavarian pretzel at Joe's Fish Company. It was tasty.
We tried the new Angry Bird's coin pusher at Gateway and it was fun.
I got a pumpkin and cinnamon Kohr's Brother's and it was great! It is only at the Cedar Ave location right now.
The new Green's Liquors building on New Jersey Ave is progressing.
It was packed in Gateway Sunday night for the Corvette drawing. The lady with her hand in the air won the car.
My son will probably work one more weekend this month, so we will return. It will be much quieter when we do return. Unfortunately, the summer has come to an end....
I have to go to Gateway 26 and topple that Angry Birds quarter tower!
Nice trip report. Hope you had a Happy Birthday. Schellengers should get more business if they build the Comfort Inn and Suites across the street.
Great report and pictures as usual. I'm a little surprised the Surfside and or the Adventure piers aren't open for at least another weekend or two up to the Firemen's Convention. It's great to see Pompeo's reopened and am going to have to try it for breakfast next chance I get. The food and pictures at Schellenger's look really good. Haven't been there in maybe 20 years but that may change next trip also. The summer goes really fast and it's sad to see but September and the first half of October are great down there also.
