We were down in Wildwood from April 12th to the 16th and witnessed the island coming back to life. The weather was decent, although it was a bit windy on a few days. Here are some pictures and observations.
The rides do not open until the end of this month...but they were doing lots of work on the piers to get ready for the summer...including fixing lights on the big wheel. It seems like the LED lights are no more reliable than the original incandescent lights.
They were also replacing lights on the Vegas Diner sign. I would like to see this sign get a complete overhaul because it used to be real neat back in the day.
They are busy working on the J1 housing on Pacific Ave.
They were busy replacing a large section of track on the Great White.
Mariner's Arcade got a couple new games. My son will be working there again this summer and worked most of the week since the arcade is open everyday now.
They are still not done the new section of boardwalk...although they are getting close. They couldn't get the Brazilian wood due to supply chain issues so they used pine. The boards look rough in a couple sections because I think they put the boards upside down. I have a feeling that the pine will not last as long as the Brazilian hard wood.
They are adding this mural to the back entrance of the boardwalk mall. I still think the Asbury Park Tilly face has no business in Wildwood.
Curley's was open Friday, Saturday and Sunday so we got our first fries of the season. They were great.
We played some fascination at Randy's arcade and my daughter and her cousin had fun.
The new Marvis diner was open and they seemed busy. We did not try it yet.
I got my first slice of Mack's for the season at the Robert's Ave location....and it was absolutely fantastic!
This new restaurant on 26 Ave looks to be getting ready to open.
It looks like another Hatillo's has been opened at Route 47 and Dennis Road....although we didn't see anyone there.
Overall it was a great trip and we are looking forward to returning for Memorial Day. Summer is closing in!
Great report and pics. Really enjoyed, thanks.......Warren
