Well, plans slightly changed. Shortly before vacation my girlfriend got word that she got a new job that starts the 1st, so we wouldn't be able to stay until the 2nd as planned. Thankfully, the Shalimar was accommodating and is offering us credit for next year's stay since they don't do refunds. To be honest I wasn't thinking of going to WW next year (hoping to travel to a different state) but we will be going now! Here are some videos I shot of my trip. I took a lot of pictures too, but I haven't gotten around to uploading them yet. My girlfriend accidentally forgot to record our drive from the parkway into Wildwood, oops! It's ok. Overall, it was an awesome trip. I got really sad, as a teacher, I'm not looking forward to summer ending with everything going on. It seemed not as crowded as I expected, lots of places had vacancies. Is the week before Labor Day usually a bit more quiet?
-No rides this year for us but we will next year. Didn't get to bike ride either even though we planned it (a shortened vacation really crunches time! )
-We were hit with rain and thunderstorms a few times. I love thunderstorms down there!
-Curry Inn was for dinner the first night, Bandanna's (our traditional first night dinner) was actually closed on Saturday. For almost the entirety of our meal, we were the only two in there. The food was amazing.
-We were one of 3 tables inside of Bandana's the next night. Seemed that everyone was eating outside.
-Mad Batter for night 3. Again, really quiet. We were one of two tables inside. We don't like crowds (even before the pandemic really) so this was all good for us!
Here are my videos, enjoy!
Nice trip report. Great job with the videos.
I really enjoyed your report and videos. I'm surprised that it was so quiet. That Friday and Saturday, our motel had a lot of large parties checking in. In fact, it felt like we were the only ones not part of a family reunion.
I completely agree with storms in Wildwood. It's so calming sitting on the balcony watching a good storm.
Your videos were so calming to watch, especially being able to see the comings and goings of the days after my trip ended. The drive around was my favorite as we love doing the same thing, although, definitely not early in the morning...lol.
Great job in documenting and providing narration on your videos. Too bad your trip wasn't as long as planned but you will make up for it next year. It does seem to feel like things are winding down a bit in late August as college kids go back to campus and parents and kids get ready for the start of school. The Mad Batter is a must stop for breakfast for us.
love your videos, blue. Great job
The week before Labor Day is quieter than most of the summer, and Labor Day Weekend isn't as big as the other two. College-aged people are sometimes in school a week early, and some school systems in PA begin that week, too, so many potential visitors miss out that last week. The change is very prominent now, in the middle of the week. i look outside the office door and it's quieting down significantly on Atlantic Avenue..
Nice job documenting the island with your videos Blue. I'm glad you had a good time. I'm surprised the restaurants were so empty while you were down.
