So we headed down to Wildwood for a few days for our annual Easter trip. We were only down from Thursday to Friday, but we managed to have a good time. The rain stopped around noon on Thursday, but it was pretty cold down the shore. Here are some photos and observations from our trip.
They were busy working on the new taco place at the former location of Stewart's. I'm surprised that the place needed this extensive of renovations. I'm not sold on the new color scheme yet.
They were also working on the new restaurant going in at the former location of the Lobster Shack. This place will be called Nan & Pop's and I think it will serve country style food.
The rides were closed on Morey's this year...but they opened up some of the games of chance on Friday. Also, Mariner's Arcade and Curley's opened on Thursday. The fries were as good as ever. This is my daughter (right) and her cousin enjoying some.
My son tried a Chipstix for the first time and said it was good. They actually cut a potato and fry it while you wait....so it is fresh.
Mack's at Wildwood Ave opened on Thursday and I got my first slice of the season. It was fantastic! In fact, it was so good I got a second slice.
Mariner's Arcade got rid of half of their Skee Ball machines to put in 4 new Monster Drop machines.
Lime Ricky World put in new carpeting and added several new machines.
On Friday, Bobby Dees and Ed's opened. We played a little in Bobby Dees and won a golden ticket. Bobby Dees added a card system...but you can still use quarters if you wish. Mariner's is the last big arcade that has not adopted the card system yet.
Snow White opened on Friday...although we did not get a Roast Beef sandwich this trip. We ate at the 2 Mile Landing on Friday shortly after they opened for the season.
The new game this season seems to be this Avenger's game. Most of the arcades added at least one of them.
Greens Liquors added a new sign with a message board.
Well, aside from the cold weather, we had a great time. We are looking forward to returning in May. My son might be working down the shore this summer...so he has his eye out for some possible jobs. I hope everyone has a nice Easter.
Great report and pics! The island is really starting to come to life as more businesses open for the season at least on the weekends. I just received the Waikiki brochure and they have opened already! With Memorial Day weekend just over a month away here's to a great 2021 season as hopefully we continue to get closer to normal.
Great report. Love the pics. We have been coming to the Wildwoods almost every year since 1997. In all that time I have never tried Macks pizza. This year I am making a point of trying it. Looking forward to it.....Warren
Mariner’s actually got rid of 8 of their skeeball lanes last year. When I went down for my one and only 2020 visit in October, I was shocked to see my favorite lane(14) and others missing.
excellent report Bill. I'm a bit sad at some ski ball machines being taken out at Mariner's. We do seem to be moving further and further away from video games in arcades. As a 90's kid, that makes me sad. Oh well, that's what Randy's is for.
