Check out this old picture of the Stand that I saw featured in an article on the B&H Photo/Video website. It was taken by Allan Weitz in the 70s or 80s.
Saw quite a few movies here over the years. Think the last time we saw one was when Tropic Thunder came out in like 2008. Problem was it was just me and my mom and the guy working in front selling tickets said he wasn't allowed to just start a movie if it was just 2 tickets being sold. Luckily a random couple came up and asked for 2 tickets to the same film so since there were 4 people going in he was allowed to operate the projectors.
it's interesting, it looks in better shape now than it did then. I love the Strand. it's one of my first memories of Wildwood. my very first day in Wildwood in 93 was so hot that we went to the Strand to cool off. We saw the movie Rookie of the Year. I'll never forget it. I even vaguely remember some of the arcade games they had in the lobby. I take pictures of the Strand each year I go, including the side sign and entrance. I always peek in, wondering what it looks like in the theaters, projection room etc. I know the stores there use it for storage, but I'm still curious.
Wildwood needs a movie theater but I don't think the Strand was big enough to justify the upgrades that would have made it a modern facility. I'd love to see the space become a small events venue, and maybe get a modern theater built elsewhere?

My fist date with my now wife of 21 years was at the Strand Theatre. We saw "Cool World". What an awful movie, but still a fond memory.
