There has been a lot of activity with new planned hotels and expansions. To add to the list, the Oceanic is going to be renovating and expanding too. Can't wait to see what the upgraded hotel looks like. Here is an excerpt from their planning board notice:
CITY OF WILDWOOD PLANNING/ZONING BOARD NOTICE OF APPLICATION PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that CATDADDIES II, LLC (the "Applicant") has applied to the Planning/Zoning Board of the City of Wildwood, Cape May County, NJ seeking Preliminary and Final Site Plan Approval and Variance Relief respecting the properties that it owns located at 4600 Ocean Avenue, Wildwood, NJ (Block 74 Lot 15 the "Oceanic Hotel") and 233 E. Burk Avenue, Wildwood, NJ (Block 85 Lot 9 the "Oceanic Parking Lot"). The Oceanic Hotel is located in the H/M (Hotel-Motel) Zoning District and the Oceanic Parking Lot is located in the R/M (Residential Multi-Family) Zoning District. The Applicant proposes to renovate and expand the Oceanic Hotel and make improvements to the Oceanic Parking Lot.
I see they are planning on tearing down the small cottages behind it.They are the last remaining pieces of the Sun Deck complex that spanned from Andrews Ave to Burke Ave.I remember staying in them back in the 60's.
