Hello All, I haven't been on the forum for quite a few years but since I enjoy exploring WW, I thought it was time to get back on...just wanted throw a question out, "how does everyone feel about alcohol being served on the boards?"

I don't mind it. I like having a few drinks with dinner. It even just a few by themselves. But I don't bother anyone and head right back to my room.
I can see how others who take it to excess, specially the 21-25,26 crowd can get rowdy and screw up someone else's vacation though
The problem is also with the drugs. State law now says a minor who possesses marijuana or alcohol can note be taken into custody, or even QUESTIONED by the police. According to the ballot initiative, it was explicitly stated that minors aren't supposed to have these substances if legalized. Young partiers are taking advantage of this law and the town is literally going to pot. There's been a wild increase in vandalism, assaults, and public displays of people in compromised states. I work in a Wildwood motel and I see first-hand what it's like daily. It's sad to see this happen to town, especially because it doesn't have to be like this.
I don't have an issue with it. Ive seen smoking drugs is a bigger issue then serving alcohol on the boardwalk in Wildwood
The whole situation is maddening, especially since Wildwood's trying to reclaim its family image. The police's hands are tied, and the high as a kite drunk teens are the new privileged class in NJ. We have to shake things up in Trenton this November. Fortunately, all of the representatives from Wildwood's district voted against this self-imposed insanity.
Point Pleasant actually closes the beach after 7pm now, alarming for a town that was always the quietest, and possibly more boring of the boardwalk towns. The issue they have had has been two fold, every town seems to be having issues with teenagers running rampant due to the Governor's new law that doesn't let police touch them even if drinking or smoking weed in public, some of the towns in Monmouth County also had issues with pop up parties originating on Tik Tok, Red Bank and several other towns actually cancelled their 4th of July fireworks to keep the crowds away because they turn into riots. Wildwood does not need more liquor on the Boardwalk, it's not the answer. When I was down we were getting our caricature done at the Douglass Pavillion and some very drunk, and very underage kid sits down in the chairs just to the side of us. Just when we finished he is passed out in the chair, head tilted back and vomit streaming out like a fountain. We had to call the police because he was going to choke to death. Some of his stupid friends find him and bring over a bike so he can get away and he face plants onto the tramcar path instead. Eventually the police did come as well as the EMTs. I know this stuff happens and has always happened but we don't need it to get worse, and whatever law was put into place that let's these kids walk around untouchable needs to be changed. This is like at 9pm. Disgusting.
Yes we have seen plenty of extremely drunk folks up at the Irish Festival to the point if we are in town we don't even go up there any more. We stay away and enjoy the classic cars. I like a couple of drinks as much as the next guy but getting sick in the gutter is a bit much. It seems like other towns are having more problems with rowdy boardwalk behavior than in the past. Point Pleasant Beach and Ocean City MD come to mind. Point Pleasant used to be a great weekend getaway or day trip for us and was only maybe 75 minutes from our home.
I've heard things seem to be getting out of hand on the boardwalk this year...I'm not sure if that's true or if it has anything to do with alcohol. I haven't really noticed any issues with the abundance of alcohol now being served. If anything, I've seen worse during the Irish weekend.
Sorry for replying to this so late but I think it is okay right now but can get out of hand if the towns aren't careful. The beer and drinks on the boards are a little pricey so I think that helps keeping people from getting blasted.
it could go either way... Personally, I think its ok
It was fine when it was at a few isolated locations...but I think it's starting to get out of hand. Seems too much like Seaside Heights on the boards now.
It might be a problem...or it might not. The Wildwood police have always seemed pretty busy to begin with though. Not sure if this just potentially puts more on their plate. Anyway, I didn't even know about this, but I haven't been down there for 9 years at this point. :(
